Orin Barnes Bio

In 1975 my wife, three kids and two border collies moved to Canyon, Texas. We settled on twenty acres and with a little luck and a whole lot of work we established Orin Barnes Training, which that has been truly a dream.

In 1976 I was fortunate enough to become an AQHA judge and in 1977 an Apha judge. This was just another positive reinforcement on my way of living, everything I had planned on doing all my life. Judging horse shows in New Zealand, Australia, Sweden, Germany, England, Mexico and Panama; along with judging numerous world shows for AQHA and Apha has lead down many roads of opportunity to see different ways to train and show. But, mostly to give respect and appreciation to the people that have dedicated their life to showing and training horses of any discipline in the horse business.

Every since an early age I have always had a good dog at my side and as soon as I could afford a Border Collie I got a BC named Shi in 1965, he was the greatest dog to work cattle and baby sit my kids. That was the start of a great experience that has led me to train and breed a working dog to this day. Going to dog trails was a test of staying on track with the right breeding program for this great breed. I have been fortunate enough to own and to train several dogs that received high point dog and dog of the year awards.

My dogs have proven to be the silent partner and the best under paid help that you can receive and also the bloodline that I have used are compatible towards people and flexible to do the task given them.
